Description
The 2023 release of Canadian Gold Maple Leafs was the last to feature Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Following her passing in September 2022, the Royal Canadian Mint did not rush the process to find a new design for King Charles III. After one final release with Her Late Majesty, the Royal Canadian Mint is ready with its new portrait of Charles III for the 2024 Maple Leafs. Today, 2024 1/20 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins are available to you online from Royalty Precious Metals.

Starting in 1990, the Royal Canadian Mint abandoned the use of Elizabeth II portraits created by the Royal Mint in favor of designs created for the Royal Canadian Mint by Canadian artists. This tradition continues with the first-ever bust of King Charles III. This new bust makes its debut on 2024-dated Maple Leafs across the gold, silver, and platinum collections.
All of these 2024 1/20 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are housed individually inside protective flips with plastic sheets for multiples of 40 coins. The 1/20 oz Gold Maple Leaf is the smallest fractional-ounce coin, but is not the smallest coin overall in the Gold Maple Series. That distinction belongs to the 1 Gram coin.
On the obverse of the 2024 Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coin is the all-new bust of King Charles III. This new left-profile relief captures Charles III in the opposite portrait orientation of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II. This is a tradition for monarch portraits as Her Late Majesty was set in right-profile relief to contrast her father’s reign, with King George VI featured in left-profile relief as well.
The reverse side of 2024 1/20 oz Gold Maple Leaf Coins features Walter Ott’s depiction of the sugar maple leaf. The sugar maple leaf has long been an emblem for the nation and appears on the national flag, among other prominent uses of the maple leaf.
