Description

** Arguably one of the most popular coin designs ever from the United States Mint, the Walking Liberty design from Adolph A. Weinman now features on the American Silver Eagle bullion coin and was originally in circulation on the country’s 50-cent piece. Today, 90% Silver Walking Liberty Half Dollars are available to you online from Royalty Precious Metals.

Coin Highlights:

  • Available to you in small plastic bags!
  • Date marks from 1916 to 1947!
  • Contains .36169 Troy oz of actual silver content per coin.
  • The face value of individual coins is $.50 (USD) fully backed by the US government.
  • Walking Liberty graces the obverse of the half-dollar coins.
  • An American bald eagle on a mountaintop perch is on the reverse of the half-dollar coins.
  • Variable date marks possible in this listing.
  • Total face value of $1 (USD).

This product listing from Royalty Precious Metals offers a total face value of $1 (USD) made up of 90% silver coins from the Walking Liberty release. This particular half-dollar coin design was on the 50-cent piece from 1916 when it replaced the Barber Coinage design and halted in 1947 in favor of the portrait of Benjamin Franklin on the obverse.

All 90% Silver Walking Liberty Half Dollar Coins in this listing are available to you inside of small plastic bags. The bag contains two individual Walking Liberty Half Dollars for a total face value of $1 (USD). The Walking Liberty design never struck onto blanks in quite the manner the US Mint was hoping for, a fact that many use in pointing to its eventual replacement by the Franklin design starting in 1948.

On the obverse of 90% Silver Walking Liberty Half Dollars is a depiction of Lady Liberty in full left-profile relief. She walks toward the sun on the horizon as it peaks over a mountain range. Her hand is outstretched to the sun while her other hand clutches the branches of oak and laurel. These branches represent the civic and military prowess of the United States. Liberty wears no crown in this design, but wears the American flag draped over her shoulders.

The reverse of Silver Walking Liberty Half Dollar Coins includes a design from Weinman as well. This image of an American bald eagle lifting off from its mountaintop perch is similar to one he created in 1907 for the American Institute of Architects gold medal. However, the Walking Liberty Half Dollar design has the bird’s head raised while the medal design has the bird’s head down as it clutches the sapling branch with its talons and beaks.
