The long-running design on the obverse of Silver Eagles is known as Walking Liberty. The Walking Liberty design, created by sculptor Adolph A. Weinman, is one of the most iconic and beloved images in American numismatic history. Introduced in 1916, this design graced the obverse of the half-dollar coin until 1947, leaving an indelible mark on U.S. coinage.

For the obverse of the 2025 American Silver Eagle, the US Mint features Weinman’s historic Walking Liberty image. The design shows the full-length figure of Liberty in left-profile relief as she walks toward the sun on the horizon with the American flag draped around her figure.

In the reverse design of 2025 1 oz Silver Eagles, you will find the modern bald eagle design from Emily Damstra. Introduced in July 2021, this new image shows the bald eagle in left-profile relief. The bird is shown in midflight as it swoops downward with its wings raised and its talons extended clutching an oak branch.
