** American Platinum Eagle Coins have been available from the US Mint since 1997. The coins are available in BU and Proof and were formerly available with fractional-ounce options. In the BU Platinum Eagle Series, you will find that the designs have remained the same over the course of the program’s history. In 1997, the United States Mint introduced the Platinum Eagles in BU and Proof with four weights available. The series initially featured 1 oz platinum coins alongside 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz options. This continued until 2008.

In 2009, the US Mint suspended all three of the fractional-ounce coins permanently, in both BU and Proof. The BU Series was also suspended for several years at this point, leaving only the 1 oz Proof Platinum Eagle in production annually. As of 2016, the BU Platinum Eagle has once again been available annually.

Obverse visuals on 2023 1 oz Platinum Eagles include the Statue of Liberty. This design was created by John Mercanti and is the only image of Liberty in the broader American Eagle Series that was not originally featured on historic American coins.

Reverse designs on the 2023 American Platinum Eagle feature an American bald eagle in flight. Designed by Thomas D. Rogers, this image shows a bald eagle soaring over the rising sun with its wings at full stretch.

These 2023 1 oz American Platinum Eagle Coins are available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are individually packaged in protective flips, with multiples available in plastic tubes of 20 coins or Monster Boxes of 100 coins. Each box has five tubes inside.
