Australian Kangaroo coinage started in 1990 when Perth Mint rebranded the Gold Nugget as the Gold Kangaroo. That BU Series is the longest-running kangaroo collection at Perth. Silver Kangaroos were available in the 1990s and 2000s, but predominantly as proof specimens with ever-changing designs. In 2016, Perth introduced the Silver Kangaroo BU Series with a static design and .9999 pure silver content.
All of these 2023 1 oz Australian Silver Kangaroo Coins are available to purchase individually in plastic flips. Multiples will arrive in protective tubes of 25 coins or Monster Boxes of 250 coins. Each box holds 10 tubes of 25 coins and all coins are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. A micro-laser engraved security element is on the reverse and visible only under magnification.
On the obverse of 2023 Australian Silver Kangaroo Coins is Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is shown here in right-profile relief wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown. This portrait comes from Jody Clark and, following Her Majesty’s death in September 2022, is the last effigy of the Queen to grace the coins in this series.
The reverse side of 2023 1 oz Silver Kangaroo Coins features a historic image of the kangaroo. This left-profile relief shows a leaping kangaroo set against a stylized backdrop of sun rays. The inspiration for this design was Stuart Devlin’s historic Australian copper penny design of a leaping kangaroo.
