The Year of the Rabbit design featured on the coins this year comes from Ing Ing Jong. Her gold design featured here will also be used on the platinum coins, while she developed a separate design for the silver coins. Hired in 2011, her first Lunar Series design came during the 2013 Year of the Snake release in Lunar Series II.

For the obverse side of 2023 Australian Gold Lunar Rabbits, the mint features Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. This definitive, final effigy of the Queen was created in 2015 by Jody Clark and debuted on Australian coins in 2018. Elizabeth II is shown here in right-profile relief wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown.

On the reverse field of the 2023 2 oz Gold Lunar Rabbit Coin, you will find a depiction of a rabbit. This design shows a rabbit running through a field, almost leaping up off the ground as it runs. This year is the Year of the Water Rabbit, the first appearance of this iteration since 1963.
